In reverence to the #writing prompt, I must share the favorite prompt that I have received thus far in my writing workshop history. My current professor of all things poetics (Check out the Poetry Vlog) posed this prompt to us one day:
Create A Playlist For How You Feel When You’re Writing
Wow, I thought, why hadn’t I thought of that. What a great way to use music as poetry.
AND, wouldn’t it be great to use a play list as a conversation starter? Or as therapy?
AND wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing to use a playlist to better understand your child? To diminish the generation gap? To express feelings when words just won’t give the gist? You do one, and the kids do one too?
AND what if you made one for your spouse? Just like, way back when, when you recorded that tape or CD while you dated?
I challenge you to make a playlist the next time you’re feeling the feels.
